Principal’s Update

As we approach the end of another successful academic year, we have been celebrating our students’ hard work, achievements, and contributions to our school community. It has been an action packed couple of weeks at The City Academy, Hackney, with many opportunities for students to learn and celebrate together. Final rehearsals for West Side Story are taking place and we look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at one of the performances.
Sports Awards
Last Wednesday, we hosted our annual Sports Awards Evening, celebrating the outstanding sporting achievements of our students. More than 25 awards were presented, recognising the commitment, talent and dedication shown across a wide range of sports throughout the year. Thank you to the PE Department for organising the event and for their continued support of our students.
Trip Day
Our annual trip day ensured that all students were able to experience the rich cultural heritage that London has to offer. While year 12 were busy completing their Duke of Edinburgh expedition in Epping Forest, other year groups had a grand day out at the Tate Modern, Tate Britain, the British Museum, the Bank of England and Maths World to name just a few. The sun shone and everyone had a lovely, positive day.A selection of pictures of the day are below.
Supporting Our SEND Students
We are pleased to invite parents and carers to our SEND Parent Afternoon on Monday 13 July, from 4:00pm–4:30pm at the academy.
The session will focus on practical strategies to support students as they prepare to return to school after the summer holidays. It will be led by our Acting SENCO, Grace Harrison, and our SEND Lead Practitioner, Imogen Overton.

Fire Circle for SEND Fathers
Hackney SEND Parent Carer Forum is hosting a supportive event for fathers and other significant male carers of children with SEND.

Learning Disability and Autism: Information, Support and Next Steps
