Primary transition
Our aim is to make the transition from primary to secondary education as smooth as possible. Students offered a place are invited to the academy with their parent(s) to have an individual meeting with a member of staff, discuss expectations and answer any questions they may have. This meeting ensures we have the early parental support that is crucial to a child’s academic success. In addition to this we offer a full transition day, at which students learn more about life at the academy with their peers.
In-year admissions
Some students may transfer to The City Academy mid term, they will be offered a similar support plan to those coming from primary school. Following a meeting with The Principal, students will be assigned a house and a tutor. Meetings will take place with the Head of House who will issue them with a planner and ruler and aliviate any further concerns. Students will also be assigned a buddy from their tutor group who can guide and support them through their first few weeks. After six weeks a review meeting will be scheduled with the Head of House to disucss the students progress to far.
Any queries about in-year admissions must be directed to The Hackney Learning Trust in the first instance.
