Often parental involvement in a child’s education reduces when they reach secondary school. We are committed to ensuring that does not happen. Regular communication with parents and carers is incredibly important to us.
Our Parent/Carer Handbook contains essential information that you should be familiar with.
It is updated every year and emailed to all parents and carers, you can also collect physical copies in school.
The most up to date handbook is below.
Keeping in touch with Parents and Carers
The academy regularly provides parents with information and data to ensure they are informed of their child’s progress: reports are compiled three times a year; progress, behaviour and attendance can be monitored online, and the academy does its utmost to support parental engagement by offering numerous opportunities for parents to meet with staff throughout the year:
Parent Day
An opportunity to meet with individual teachers to talk about your child’s progress in specific subjects. You should attend one Parent Day per year. Appointments are available in the afternoon or evening and are booked online.
Your child must attend with you (in full uniform, with their planner) or it will be recorded as an unauthorised absence.
There are no lessons on Parent Days and the academy is closed to all other students.
Please check the events calendar or parent carer handbook for dates.
SLT surgery
Twice a week members of the Senior Leadership Team are available to discuss any issues that your child’s Personal Tutor or Head of Year is unable to help you with.
Consultation Week
For Years 7, 11, 12 & 13 only. After school meetings with your child and their personal advisor or tutor. You will discuss your child’s wellbeing, progress and targets.
Please check the events calendar or parent carer handbook for dates.
