Principal’s Update
Published: Mon 22 June 2026Our Year 11 and Year 13 students have finally made it to the end of exam season and we celebrated in style with the Year 11 Prom and Year 13 BBQ. (See photos below.)

For the rest of the academy, the focus on learning continues: Year 7–10 and Year 12 are half way through their end of year assessments. To help your child feel ready and prepared please see the timetable and topic lists here.
Poetry Success
We’re thrilled to share that 58 of our students entered the Young Writers’ national ‘I Have A Dream’ poetry competition and every single one of our entries was accepted. Winners will be announced in the Autumn term and all the poems will be published in an anthology. Huge congratulations to all our students and a big thank you to Mr Martin who led the project.
Healthy Food Award
We are proud to announce that the academy has been awarded the Bronze Healthy School London Award, the first secondary school in Hackney to receive this honour. This is a real testament to our dedication to improving health and wellbeing outcomes. Two year 7 students will accompany Mr Ladega to collect the award at the City and Hackney’s Healthy Schools Celebration Event at Britannia Leisure Centre on July 1st.
Big Bang Day
Our annual Big Bang Day was a huge success! Students from across all year groups took part in a range of exciting STEM workshops, including Cells Live, Introducing AI, and Animal Classifications.
The day wrapped up with a spectacular Community Science Show hosted by an educator from The Royal Institution, featuring explosive science demonstrations and plenty of audience participation.

Sporting Excellence
Kenzo Boulton competed in the Jack Petchey Table Tennis Individual Finals this weekend and won a Bronze Medal. This is a huge achievement: he competed against table tennis players from all over London and Essex and came third in the U13 category.
