Principal’s Update
Published: Fri 5 June 2026Dear parent/carers,
As you will already know, it has been a very difficult time in our school community. We continue to work with a range of organisations to support staff and students. If you are concerned about your child, for any reason, please contact your child’s pastoral team who will work with you to ensure that they are well-supported. Please see contact details here. Please also see here this very useful advice from The UK Trauma Council about supporting young people through difficult events.
Our Year 11 and Year 13 students are approaching the end of their exam period, with their final exams taking place mid June. For students in Years 7–10 and Year 12, mock examinations will begin shortly. Please ensure that students are aware of their examination dates and prepared accordingly. Independent Review into Antisemitism in Schools and Colleges
Hackney Education has been invited to contribute to a national Independent Review into Antisemitism in Schools and Colleges, commissioned by the Department for Education and The City Academy Hackney will be participating in this. As part of this process, parents and carers are invited to share their experiences and perspectives to help inform future guidance and support for schools. Please see the attached letter here from Hackney Education for further information and details on how to take part.
Parent & Carer Session – Understanding the Teenage Brain
Parents and carers are invited to a free webinar on Monday 8th June 2026 exploring how the teenage brain develops and what this means for behaviour, emotions, and decision‑making. The session will provide practical insights to help better understand and support young people through adolescence, including strategies for communication and managing challenges. This is a valuable opportunity to gain expert guidance and build confidence in supporting teenagers’ wellbeing and development.
Road safety
We would like to remind students of the importance of road safety when travelling to and from school. Students should cross at designated crossing points only. They should remember to stop, look, listen and think before crossing. We encourage all families to discuss safe travel habits with their children to support the messages that we share in school. Please also note that it is not permitted to drive or park on Homerton Row. We are working with Hackney Council to make this a school street in the very near future which means that drivers will be fined for driving or parking there. Thank you for your support.
