Principal’s Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of our first half-term,  it’s great to reflect on how much the students have already achieved. It’s a long half term and the year 7 and 12 students in particular have had lots to learn. This week has been especially demanding as we welcomed Ofsted for a pilot visit. Their feedback confirmed that the improvements and initiatives we’ve worked on over the past two years are having a real impact. Inspectors commented that students flourish here — a powerful testament to the hard work and dedication of our staff.

We hope everyone enjoys a well-deserved and restful half-term break.

Black History Month Activities

Our Black History Month celebrations on the theme of power and pride have been interesting and inspiring. Highlights include student-led assemblies, workshops focused on raising aspirations for our Key Stage 5 girls, a spoken word and poetry competition, and a session with a hairdresser specialising in Afro-Caribbean hair. Students also took part in a BHM STEM Engineering field trip. To round off the month, students delivered an outstanding Black History Month performance featuring a dynamic mix of songs, spoken word, and drama.

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

This term, our Year 7 students have been studying Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. After exploring the characters and themes in class, each group rehearsed and performed a scene from the play. On Wednesday 22nd October, students performed their work to peers and parents, who absolutely loved it.

Keeping Safe – Fireworks

This week in tutor time and in our daily reflections, we have been reminding students of the dangers of fireworks and reiterating that it is illegal to buy fireworks if you are under 18. If a student brings a firework into school, the most serious sanction will be issued. Please help to keep your children safe by reminding them of this important message.

Relationships & Sex Education (RSE)

After the half-term break, all year groups will take part in Relationship and Sex Education lessons during their PSHCE sessions. If you would prefer to withdraw your child from these lessons, please click [here].
