Principal’s Update
Published: Wed 25 June 2025Dear parents/carers,
Year 11 and year 13 students finally came to the end of a very long period of exams last week. We are really proud of their focus and commitment through this challenging period and have made sure that they have been able to celebrate the end of exam season at the Year 11 Prom and the Year 13 Gala (see photos below from the big event). It’s not over for the rest of the academy though as year 7-10 and year 12 continue to focus on their end of year assessments. Following this we have a range of enriching end of term activities – please check the dates for your diaries carefully below.

Big Bang Day
Our annual Big Bang Day enabled students from different year groups to experience a range of STEM workshops including Cells Live, Introducing AI and Animal Classifications (with some real live animals!) The day ended with a fantastic community science show, hosted by The Royal Institution, where we welcomed some year 6 students who will be joining us next year and their families.

Year 10 Work Experience
Year 10 students will be spending next week getting a taste of the world of work as they all go off to their work experience placements. Some students will remain in school to catch up on missed work and will then attend a work experience day at the Guildhall Friday 4th July 2025. Students must arrive punctually, positively and ready to engage professionally with their employers.
Culture Day
Culture Day is back on Wednesday 2nd July 2025. This day is dedicated to celebrating diversity, togetherness and mutual respect. Students can attend school wearing clothing or carrying a flag that represents their cultural heritage. They will participate in a series of workshops and activities and the day will end with a celebration assembly.
Maths Homework: SPARX
Every Wednesday students are set 30-60 minutes of maths homework on the SPARX platform. This must be completed by the following Wednesday without exception. Students must complete this homework even if they are absent from school. Catch-up sessions if students need extra help run every Monday. Please contact your child’s maths teacher if you have any questions.
