Become a qualified music teacher (SCITT)
Published: Wed 15 April 2026Have you, or someone you know, ever considered a career in teaching music?
We’re excited to announce that, for the first time, we are offering a dedicated Music pathway as part of our School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) programme, delivered in partnership with the national education charity, Teach First.
What’s a SCITT?
Our SCITT programme provides a flexible route to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in just one year. From day one, trainees are based in school, gaining hands-on classroom experience while developing their subject expertise, supported by experienced mentors and a strong training network.
This new Music pathway is designed for aspiring secondary music teachers who are passionate about inspiring young people through performance, creativity and musical expression. You’ll have the opportunity to train in a vibrant school environment, working closely with experienced music educators and engaging with a diverse and dynamic student community.
Whether you’re a recent graduate in music or a career changer looking to share your passion, this is your opportunity to make a real impact through music education.
Hear directly from our 2025 graduates and learn more about their experiences on the programme.
Find out more and apply via the City of London Academies Trust website. Applications close on Friday 22 May.
