We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming SEND Coffee Afternoon. This session will be centred around: Exams and Worry – receiving and responding to your child during this period of time.

Details of the session:

Date: Monday 23rd March 2026

Time: 4-5pm

Parent/Carer Workshop: Exams and Worry – receiving and responding to your child during this period of time

Exams can often feel overwhelming for our children, especially as they navigate through their primary years.  It may be tricky to know how to support them through this period of time.

As a parent/carer, there are different things that you can do to help your child manage their feelings of stress (whilst also noticing your own during this time).

The Exams and Worry – receiving and responding to your child during this period of time parent/carer workshop is a space where you will be able to:

  • Identify some of the signs and sources of stress and worry

  • Think about creating times of joy with your child during this time

  • Explore ways to help your child manage their workload and emotions

  • Encourage healthy habits

There will be an opportunity to ask questions, discuss and reflect upon the approaches, during the session.

We hope to see you there!

Here are some useful short videos to watch before the session (between 2-5 minutes long)

v=dknTQktH5Z0 – This animation is designed to help students understand and manage anxious feelings. It is also useful for parents/carers as a general introduction to childhood anxiety.

v=-RZ86OB9hw4 – This animation is a gentle introduction into the science behind exam stress and anxiety. If we understand the science of what’s happening in our bodies when we feel stressed, we can learn to keep those feelings balanced and make them work for us.

v=n_Xn1Nt5f0c – This short video provides parents/carers with tips on  how to support their child during the exam period. The tips have come from young people themself on what they have found has helped them.
